An Introduction

I have wanted to start a blog to review books and other bookish things for a while now, but have always been too scared to do so…

After much debate, flip flopping and encouragement, (thank you burrowsquad and husband) I realized that the only thing holding me back is myself! Who cares if anyone ever reads this or if I get hundreds of followers? What does it matter if my punctuation sucks or my rambling nonsense isn’t entertain to others?

This blog is for me to share my love of books and maybe get others to read as well. I honestly think the world would be better if people read more (or at least read the directions).

How did I get into reading?

My parents have always encouraged my love for reading by taking me to many libraries and books stores growing up. I remember my mom making me start using the library because I read too fast to keep buying books. She would enroll my brother and I in reading programs every summer and would be so proud when we would read the most out of everyone.

My dad would always read to us (he is also a bookwyrm). My earliest memories are of him reading The Monster at the End of this Book from Sesame Street and The Hobbit. He always stood in line with me or for me to get the newest Harry Potter book. They are the reason I love books.

Why Bookwyrm?

I think that all book lovers have been made fun of at least once in their life. I’m the type of person who would much rather read than deal with social situations. There were many times, growing up, where I would bring a book with me to my grandparents house so I wouldn’t have to talk to people. Bookworm is one of the many names nonreaders tend to use. A wyrm is a dragon like creature, typically a sea serpent. This is my way of saying screw, you, I’m a dragon.

Favorite Genre

I stick with Young Adult, Science Fiction, Fantasy and sometimes Romance (not the sappy Hallmark kind).

What I hope to accomplish

When you read, it allows you to temporarily be a part of a different world. Some worlds are amazing and some are not so great. I want to share my thoughts and encourage others to read as well.
