Fable has had a hard life in the four years since her mother drowned and her father abandoned her on an island called Jeval. Having to learn to survive on her own, Fable’s only goal is to get off the island and find her father.

My Thoughts

When I saw this book, I knew it was going to a fun, quick read. The cover is absolutely amazing and who doesn’t love a good survival/pirate story?

I have read other books by Adrienne Young and so far this one is my favorite. It immediately draws the reader in and has you dying to know more about Fable and the world she has lived in.

Fable is such a great main character! She is tough, clever and knows how to get out of tough situations. She faces many challenges throughout the book but pushes through instead of giving up. (Fable definitely has grit)

In a lot of books, the side characters tend to be not as developed as the main character. Adrienne Young does not do that in this one. Each side character has such a great background story and personality. As Fable finds a family in West and the others, I found myself loving them as well.

Overall this was a great story and I’m excited to read what happens next (Especially after that cliffhanger)!

Favorite Quotes

“What I want is not to die alone…I didn’t really choose this life. It’s just the only one I have…”

“Like a weary bird flying out over the most desolate sea, I finally had a place to land.”

“Home was a ship that was at the bottom of the sea, where my mother’s bones lay sleeping.”

Rating

4/5 stars

This review is of my own opinion! I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did!
